Preface

This volume records the work of Muhammad Asghar Ali, a software engineer based in Pakistan who works primarily in Go, TypeScript and Python. It gathers, in order: contributions to open-source projects, selected public projects, work in progress, and professional experience.

The common thread is durable, well-built backend systems: APIs that hold their shape under load, workflows that do not lose their state, and tools that make other engineers faster.

Read in any order. The contents page will take you directly to any section.

Open-Source Contributions

✦ ✦ ✦

Accepted contributions to production open-source projects in the durable execution space.

  • resonatehq/resonatedurable promise store and task orchestrator · contributed commits to the Go server
  • dbos-transact-golangDBOS durable execution for Go · contributed commits
  • webbrainopen-source AI browser agent for page chat, task automation and multi-step workflows

Both projects concern the same problem domain: making asynchronous, distributed programs reliable by persisting their state. This work is also reflected in the professional experience described in Chapter III.
